This week Year 9 students Jemima, Eliane, Qaali, Elizabeth, Tomi, Tabitha and Lara (pictured) made Latymer history, being the first girls to represent the School in a rugby fixture.
The Girls’ U15 team played in an inter-school sevens tournament against Richmond Upon Thames School, Waldegrave School and Orleans Park School.
“All the girls had a fantastic time and we will be looking to play in more festivals after half-term,” said Mr Doneghan, Head of Rugby.
“We aim to be one of the leading co-educational day schools for sport in England,” said Director of Sport, Natalie Maclean. “As in all things at Latymer, as a Sports department, we aim to offer all our students opportunity and high quality coaching and it’s very exciting to see the growth in girls rugby this year. Following the success of our girls football team last year, I’m excited to watch these girls go from strength to strength on the rugby pitch too.”
