The Global Goals Exhibition in June is the culmination of the Global Goals course that every Year 9 takes and is an opportunity for them to present their projects to parents, teachers and each other.
Global Goals is a course that has been developed by Latymer. It ties into the school’s strategic aim to help pupils become active global citizens. The students identify a UN goal to research and devise a plan to realise this goal. They work in small groups to produce websites and presentations that ‘sell their ideas’.
Projects this year included various ideas that support Ukrainian refugees as well as a number of projects that looked at sustainability – from food waste and plastic pollution. There was also a project that looked at how to improve literacy and another for adapting environments to be more friendly to people who are neurodiverse.
“Their projects were truly inspiring, innovative, creative & thought-provoking,” said Mr Edwards, who leads the course. “During the year the students have shown real creativity and worked well together in their teams to realise their projects. I’ve been really impressed with the quality of the work this year and they should all be proud of what they’ve accomplished.”
