Year 12 Art Installation, ‘State of Play’ at Latymer Upper School

On Saturday Latymer Upper School was the backdrop to the magnificent Year 12 art installation event, ‘State of Play’.

There were 13 art installations in place all around the school, utilising the piazza and flower beds, several classrooms and music practice rooms, the covered walkway, several studios in the art school, even the girls’ toilets!

The event was open to the whole community with guests enjoying drinks and nibbles in the afternoon sunshine in the Piazza afterwards.

“Everyone who came really enjoyed wandering around the site,” said Head of art, Mr Mumby. “I was really pleased to see how it all came together; for our artists it is really rewarding to see visitors’ surprise at each installation, their appreciation of the the mix of media – sculpture, hangings, film, video and sound in each of the works – and their responses to the artists’ statements which they read as they entered the spaces.” he continued. “This is the first time since 2019 we’ve been able to host an event like this  and I’m proud of all of our students for the scale of their ambition and how they successfully realised their vision for all to see.  This was a great show and an opportunity to showcase the talent of these young artists.”
