Success for Latymerians at 2023 British Biology Olympiad

Congratulations to all 37 Latymer Upper Sixth Form students who took part in this year’s British Biology Olympiad.

They achieved outstanding results, with 7 Gold, 7 Silvers, 7 Bronze, 6 Highly Commended and 5 Commended. Y13 student Matilda did so well that she has been selected to attend the UK team selection event at Warwick University in April. This is a four day event in which there are talks from keynote speakers and she will receive theoretical and practical training in Biology, as well as completing further assessments. It is a fantastic enrichment opportunity and if successful, she could go on to represent the UK at the highly prestigious International Biology Olympiad which will be held in Dubai in July.

“I am really delighted with the enthusiasm and dedication shown by our students and very proud of their results,” said Ms Hansford, Head of Biology. “They’ve demonstrated not only great understanding of the subject, but also their abilities to use and apply their knowledge.”

The British Biology Olympiad (BBO) is a prestigious and highly competitive competition which challenges students, aged 16+, with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents.
