Remembrance Day 2022

On Friday, 11 November, pupils and staff from Latymer Prep and Upper Schools came together in the Piazza to mark Remembrance Day together at 11am.

The ‘buzz’ of the Piazza was replaced with a serene silence and stillness as pupils observed the two minute silence. Sixth Former, Michaela performed a moving rendition of the ‘Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’.

Over recent years, pupils have undertaken a number of different projects around Remembrance. Supported by the School Archivist, students have researched the stories of Latymerians who lost their lives in World War One and Two, uncovering hundreds of unique narratives.

This year, as they have done since 2019, students and staff filled in their ‘I Choose to Remember’ cards with the name of a Latymerian from the Rolls of Honour in the Main Hall, which commemorate those who lost their life in WWI, and also the dedication to those who died in WW2 . Y12 student Jeremie is pictured here at the memorial with students from Y7, Aaron, Stella and Ziggy, who were also remembering loved ones who fought in World Wars and Ziggy’s father who is currently serving.

We will remember them.
