Latymer Upper School student Aara is in receipt of the Mayor’s Award from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the category of Young Achiever.
The Mayor’s Awards scheme is run every year to recognise the people and organisations who have gone above and beyond to make an outstanding contribution to improving local life in the borough.
This award is in recognition of her fundraising for the charity West London Action for Children since the age of 7. She has been selling her handmade crafts and jewellery as well as sourcing items to sell, donating 100% of the proceeds to the charity. She has participated in various events, including the annual winter fair where she manages her stall independently and engages confidently with customers, raising awareness about the charity’s work.
Over time, Aara has inspired other young people in the community to get involved in fundraising, many of whom hadn’t realized that children could contribute until they saw Aara running her own stall.
We at Latymer Upper School are all very proud of her and the exceptional contributions she’s made to the community.
