Cairngorms

The journey began at the Active Outdoor Pursuit centre located in Newtonmore, an hour away west of Inverness.

After lunch the team left in two minivans for Loch Laggan another 45 mins away from civilisation.

Once there everything was loaded into canoes and the team paddled 10k to Moy beach, at the very end of the loch, where they settled for two nights.

This was then the base for two days of serious hiking, including a 25km walk or climb to the top of Beinn a’Chlachair.

On day three they paddled to a new beach camp on Loch laggan and spent the final two nights there. Day four saw  them tackle the most challenging hike yet to Creag Meagaidh, a beast of a climb.

The final morning they headed to Laggan canyon. This was such an amazing experience, fun, challenging and invigorating all at once; and set in the most beautiful setting.

Most of the students had never set foot in Scotland before and the consensus by the last day of the trip was that it was an amazing place to be. This was helped by the surprisingly sunny and hot weather we experienced all week.
