On Friday 10th March, we were visited by Pete Smith, principal tuba of the Philharmonia Orchestra. As well as giving a workshop for the Prep School, he gave a very short recital after school that was attended by pupils, staff and parents. This was a wonderful opportunity to hear one of the country’s leading performers on a rarely heard solo instrument. For Mr Smith, it was a ‘dress rehearsal’ before his solo performance in the Royal Festival Hall as part of a series of recitals being given by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra, so we were very lucky to have him at Latymer!
