“Pupils’ well-developed aesthetic and spiritual awareness is expressed through displays of outstanding art work.”

– Independent Schools Inspectorate

The artwork produced by pupils at Latymer Upper School  is of an exceptionally high standard, both at GCSE and A Level. This reputation for excellence in the arts is well earned, with inspiring teaching and facilities that encourage students to hone their creative skills.

The Art department is at the very heart of the School’s site, with a three storey gallery and expansive double height studio linked to four further studios within the Latymer Arts Centre. Each year the most talented of our artistic students choose to continue their studies in Fine Art, History of Art or Architecture at some of the country’s most prestigious art colleges and universities.

Stimulating lessons give students the opportunity to study a wide range of creative subjects including painting and drawing, 3D design and construction, photography, ceramics, textiles, sculpture and printmaking. Artwork is displayed throughout the School and showcased in three annual exhibitions in the gallery and in the Summer Show. And with world class galleries and museums on our doorstep, regular trips are organised to major shows and exhibitions.

The Art School is a key part of extra-curricular life at Latymer and the department is buzzing at all times of the day. Clubs and societies offer students further opportunities to experience and work on their skills in a whole range of artistic techniques including:

  • Photography
  • LUS Film Unit
  • 3D art
  • Life drawing
  • Architecture
  • History of art society
