On Monday 28th January our Spanish debating team won a competition held at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich. The competition was between 12 independent schools from west and south east London, during which the students went through three rounds of debating. The topics covered were wide ranging: ‘Do we need feminist movements in Spain?’, ‘Should we tax meat products?’ and ‘Is the internet bad for democracy?’.
Jemma and Francesca, both in Lower Sixth, had worked hard consistently during the year and this was a wonderful opportunity for them to take their linguistic skills further, interacting with students from other schools.
It was great to see the girls perform and really push themselves to reach the final. The win means that the competition will be held at Latymer next year and we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of competitors then.
