Our Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) participants have successfully completed their practice expeditions for the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards! They’ve been trekking, camping, and facing challenges head-on.
For the Gold DofE practice expedition, our students journeyed to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Over three days, they walked a route covering up to 20 km a day to complete the necessary training ensuring each student has a competent grasp of the required expedition skills. Despite very wet and incredibly muddy conditions, they did a fantastic job in keeping up their spirits.
Our Silver DofE practice expedition to the New Forest was an adventure filled with highs and lows! Over the three days, the students braved sunshine one minute and hailstones the next – all with stoic resilience. They practised their skills like champs, gearing up to conquer the qualifier this June.
For Bronze DofE, 113 students had an amazing weekend visiting Wendover just south of Aylesbury, for their practice award. The weather held up although the nights were a little more chilly. Everyone kept up with the fifteen kilometre walk and managed to navigate the routes as well as cooking their own meals. The students are now looking forward to the qualifier on the May Bank holiday, where they’ll put these skills to the test.
