2020 GCSE Results

• ‘Rigorous and fair’ grading process delivers ‘excellent and well-evidenced’ results 
• Marko Trandafilovski and twins, Ben and Tom Scott amongst 29 students (17.5% of the year group) to achieve straight 9s (high A*)   
• Just under half the year group (79 students) awarded all Grades 9 or 8 (A*) 

Latymer Upper School Head, David Goodhew, said: “My warmest congratulations to all of our students who are receiving their GCSE results today. They have endured so much over the last six months and I am pleased that our students now finally have the grades their teachers knew they deserved.” 

“The grading process was rigorous and fair in every regard and we took our responsibilities very seriously, both as an exams centre and as a School, with integrity and honesty,” continued David. “Only in this way could we guarantee that the system would be fair for our own students, as well as for all students nationally who would be in the same boat. The results this morning, therefore, are both excellent and well-evidenced and everyone has met the criteria for entry into the Sixth Form.  We are now focusing on our number one priority, which is getting pupils safely back in school for September and we look forward to welcoming students back to make a start on their A Level courses.”

Amongst the students collecting their results today were:

Twins, Tom and Bob Scott who achieved straight 9s. After an anxious couple of months, they are now looking forward to starting their A Levels next month. They will both be studying Maths, Further Maths and Physics, with one taking Chemistry and the other History.

As well as being given a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister earlier this month, for her amazing Community Senior Letters initiative, Nina Andersen found out today that she has been awarded six 9s and four 8s.

Scarlett Knowles who has been combining her role as Hammersmith and Fulham Youth Mayor with her studies over the past year, was delighted with her six 9s, three 8s and a 7. Her best friend, Rebecca Harrison, also did incredibly well with six 9s and four 8s. The two girls say that they can’t wait for the reopening of school as lockdown has been the longest time they’ve spent apart since they were 2 years old! 

Marko Trandafilovski has rounded off his time in Latymer’s Middle School with ten, straight 9s at GCSE. Whilst in Middle School, Marko set up Latymer’s Slavic Languages club, published a piece of literary criticism in ‘The Underpass‘ on James Joyce and taught himself Greek. In Year 11, he was awarded the Deputy Head Academic’s Prize for an essay on Virgil and the Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He will study English, Latin, Greek and Philosophy and Theology at A Level.
