Each year the School Library Association makes an award for School Librarian of the Year to recogni
se the excellent work carried out in school libraries every day and to highlight the best practice of those whose work is outstanding.
This year, the restrictions and pressure on schools have made it difficult for the SLA to choose one winner, and instead they have announced an Honour List of all the candidates until judging can be fairly and consistently carried out.
We are very excited to have our wonderful librarian, Terri McCargar on this list, for the outstanding work she does in providing an excellent service to all our students. Terri constantly fights the corner of the library as a place for reading, study and learning and she describes one of her proudest moments as being when a student, asked for advice about researching for a project, said “Make Ms McCargar your best friend – she knows everything and wants to help!”
The SLA are planning to carry out visits to schools in the spring of 2021 and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for Terri when the winner is announced next June.
