Our long-awaited landscaping project for the Piazza is now underway, due to be completed before the start of the Autumn Term 2019. Once it is finished, the new design will enhance the daily life, environment and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.
The ‘piazza’, as it is known, is the communal space at the heart of our King Street campus. The new design plans for this central area include more greenery and specific ‘socialising’ zones. The introduction of a wider variety of plants and trees is not only environmentally beneficial to this busy shared space, but will also offer seating spaces among green areas in which our pupils can relax in smaller groups.
Our new piazza will also become a cultural hub – one in which small ‘stages’ will encourage performing arts. The space will be expanded to include the front of the library building where café-style seating, additional trees and plant beds will soften and enhance the area.
The images below give an idea of how the piazza will look when it is completed, and some of the plants that will be used to make this an enjoyable and enriching space for the whole community.
