Parenting in the Digital Age
Wednesday 1 Feb 2017, Main Hall: 7-9pm
On Wednesday we were delighted to welcome Vicki Shotbolt from Parentzone who presented a talk and discussion on Parenting in the Digital Age. Designed to help parents understand what their children are accessing online, to familiarise them with the power and pitfalls of Social Media, and to help them raise Internet resilient kids, the evening was interactive and thought provoking.
Vicki is an executive board member of the UK Council on Child Internet Safety and is Chair of the Digital Resilience group which is responsible for developing the UK's national Digital Resilience Strategy and so is excellently placed to provide the audience with the very latest research and recommendations. She is a regular commentator on internet safety and earlier this month appeared on BBC Breakfast.
As one parent commented, "the internet and Social Media seems such a minefield and I always feel one step behind my children! This was a great way of demystifying the whole topic and helping me realise the sensible boundaries I can put in place".
