General Aims
Most of Year 11 pupils continue on into the L6th and are joined by approximately 50 students from other schools. They are placed into 13 or 14 form groups, each with 10 to 15 students under the care and supervision of a form tutor. Form groupings tend to be based around subject choices.
Tutors are assigned to L6th Forms and then stay with their form throughout the two years, thus providing support from the start of the Sixth Form through to receiving A2 Level results and moving on to university. The tutors play a key role in the process of applying to university, giving advice to students and in preparing UCAS references. Latymer's Sixth Form aims to foster an adult working relationship between students and their tutors, with students increasingly taking responsibility for their studies and activities. Tutors give general guidance, support and encouragement, but of course intervene and contact parents if necessary.
