The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The School runs a full programme of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme from bronze level through to gold. At bronze and silver level the Award is divided into four sections: skills, physical recreation, community service and an expedition. Skills, physical recreation and community service are undertaken over a set period of months in the participant's own time. Walking expeditions are organised by Latymer and usually take place in the Lake District, mid-Wales or Dartmoor. To achieve the gold award, participants also have to complete a residential project, typically in youth centres, youth hostels or sailing ships. Pupil participation in the scheme is high at all levels and every year around six pupils achieve the prestigious Gold Award.
