Robert Orme

He's a maverick, a one-off; equally at home talking about cricket or art history. He's loved by pupils and parents alike.Peter Aspden, Class 1976

A group of Latymerians who want to celebrate the long career of this legendary teacher, and to keep his name alive at Latymer for future generations, have launched an appeal to create the “Robert Orme Sixth Form Bursary”. This means-tested award will promote Robert’s passion for History of Art and History. It would be awarded in perpetuity to a young person from a low income background joining Latymer Upper School for the two years of Sixth Form.

The wonderful news is that over £90,000 has already been given or pledged to Robert’s Bursary Fund - but we still need further donations in order to endow this award. If you haven’t already made a pledge, please consider supporting this appeal.

Robert Orme is an inspiring teacher who taught at Latymer Upper for 47 years. His socratic method of teaching relies on pupils asking questions to arrive at ideas making his lessons hugely interactive and fun!
