Bursaries Appeal 2016-17
Latymer has much to offer, and with hard work and dedication I will grab this opportunity with both hands. I hope that one day in the future I will be able to give somebody the same opportunity.Bursary recipient, Year 9
THE BURSARIES APPEAL 2016/17
The Bursaries Appeal has one aim: to provide financial support for girls and boys who show great promise in the entrance exam process, but whose families could not otherwise afford to send them to Latymer Upper School.
Launched in 2005, this annual appeal has financed the education of 33 bright and promising children, 20 of whom are currently studying at Latymer whilst a further 13 are now at university. This extraordinary success is the result of many hundreds of gifts from all sections of the Latymer Community: alumni, current and former parents and staff, Governors and friends of the School.
The Bursaries Appeal does not necessarily ask for large donations; the majority of gifts are relatively small. Many donations are made by Direct Debit which helps us to plan and commit to future awards.

As part of the 2016/17 appeal we hope to raise enough to name one of the awards after Latymerian Alan Rickman (Class of 1964). As many will know, Alan’s own early life illustrates the transformational power of a Latymer education. From a modest family background, at eleven years old he won a place at Latymer Upper School on a full bursary. As with our bursary recipients today, this opened a door to a myriad of opportunities. The rest, as they say, is history. Alan went on to worldwide acclaim as an actor and director but he never forgot his old school returning to Latymer on many occasions to work with our students studying drama and to lend his support for our bursary programme. You can give to the bursary in Alan’s name by clicking on “Donate by Credit Card” and ticking the relevant box.
