Schools Head of the River 2013 19 March 2013
Following the Schools Head of the River on the 7th March, our Senior crews crew continue to lead the country in schoolgirl rowing and prove themselves in a league of their own. They entered two events and won both: Under 18 Women’s Quads and Coxless Fours
This marks the 3rd consecutive year winning the top quad event – by a huge 20 second margin – and demonstrates their versatility across disciplines to dominate sweep events too.
In addition on Saturday 9th March eight girls then jumped in a boat for the Women’s Head of the River placing 3rd to Headington (1st) and a Junior GB crew (2nd) with just one training session for it. – I have more information written by the girls captain on this should you require it.
The Under 15 (J15) Boys also showed spirit to achieve 3rd in their category at the Schools Head. With a handful of exceedingly strong J15 Championship crews this year, the margins separating the rest of the field.
The Senior Boys bumped up overall rankings by 6 places in both 1st & 2nd Eights competing against older, heavier athletes. With the absence of stroke this was a good effort from the 1st Eight, whilst the 2nd 8+ hurtled past rivals with gusto to achieve the set target of 8th in the category.
