Latymer Foundation

Founded in 1624, Latymer Upper School was established on its present site in 1895 and The Latymer Prep School (previously a Department of the Upper School since 1951) was created in 1995. Both Schools are part of The Latymer Foundation at Hammersmith.  The Latymer Foundation exists to provide an academic education of the highest quality to pupils of ability, regardless of background, and the Governors in their commitment to equality of opportunity provide Bursaries and Scholarships to make this possible.  Just over 1200 children now pass through the School gates every day.

We continue to offer the education envisaged by our founder, Edward Latymer, who wanted to provide educational opportunity to 'poore boyes of Hammersmith'.  We now, of course, extend this to girls as well - Latymer is a fully co-educational school with boys and girls in every year group.  We have exceptionally close links with our local community, and particularly local schools, and the majority of our pupils live within four miles of the School. Please click to read The History of Free Places at Latymer.

The Latymer Foundation is a charitable trust.  Fundraising for means-tested Scholarships is one of the prime functions of the Foundation, and all members of the Latymer community, past and present, are invited to support the Foundation in this aim.  For further information on Scholarships, giving and support, please see the Giving to Latymer section of the website.
