6TH FORM ENTRY

Admission to the Sixth Form (at 16+) is accomplished through personal statement, interview and confidential school reference.   Further information can be obtained by contacting the Registrar's office -  registrar@latymer-upper.org (0845 638 5721)THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF REGISTRATIONS IS NORMALLY MID NOVEMBER.  THE EXACT DATE FOR 2011 WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE SPRING.

To apply, please complete the registration form and send it along with a £75 registration fee and a copy of the student's birth certificate or passport.  Candidates must also submit a one-page personal statement outlining why Latymer is an appropriate move at this point in their academic career, aspirations for university study and beyond, and what he/she will contribute to the Latymer community.  A copy of the final school report for Year 10 is also required. In late November/early December, Latymer will request a confidential reference from the current school that includes updated progress reports and predicted grades at GCSE. 

Following an extensive review of the application documents, selected students will be invited to interview. Please note that not all applicants are invited to interview and the deposit is non-refundable.   The interviews take place in early January of the proposed year of entry.  Candidates are normally interviewed by either the Head, Head of Sixth Form or one of the Deputy Heads, and the Heads of Departments of those subjects they wish to study at A Level.

Candidates who are successful at interview will be made offers in which they will be required to achieve at least an A Grade in the subjects to be studied at AS Level.   Candidates must also pass GCSE Maths and English or English Literature with grades of C or better.  Offers are made in late-January and families wishing to accept are asked to reply by early February and send a non-refundable £1000 confirmation deposit.

Financial Support

  • Foundation Scholarships, which are means-tested and which can be up to 100% of fees, are awarded based on a combination of academic excellence and family circumstances.  Parents requesting a means-tested place will be asked to complete a Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances.  Following the exams and interview, and prior to any award being made, a home visit may be conducted.
  • Academic Scholarships are awarded strictly on academic excellence and are not means-tested.
  • Sixth Form Scholarships are also available for music, drama, sport and art.
